AILA is a non-profit organisation working to build capacity and promote sustainable economic development in low and middle income countries through a series of training workshops and other exchanges of knowledge aimed at building legal professional competence in international economic law, with a core focus on Investment Treaty law.
Although AILA does not subscribe to the fully-funded model of assistance, it aims to make its services affordable and accessible to all. Accordingly, any fees it charges are proportionate to the participant's country income levels and where appropriate, individual circumstances. AILA also makes assistance on international investment law issues accessible to its members (from low and middle income countries) through the provision of pro bono legal advice. While it does not limit its activities to any one region, AILA has focused its work on Africa.
