What we do

We facilitate, enhance and strengthen the legal position of Africans in international economic law.

Our experts ensure you understand the risks and regulatory requirements to enable you to meet your transactional needs.

Our Mission

We aim to:

  • promote sustainable economic development in African countries;
  • advance the legal education of Africans; and
  • encourage recognition of African legal practitioners

Our Services

We work to achieve our aims by:

  • advancing knowledge, education, training, professional competence and best practices in international economic laws by all or any of the following means:
  • training, lectures, conferences, seminars, or other similar forms of communication, practical experience schemes and similar programmes, mentoring, publications, or commissioning and publishing the results of any research; and
  • encouraging recognition of African legal practitioners, arbitrators and mediators through:
  • Provision of a Free Searchable Online Directory for Africans
  • Publication on BLOG AILA of regular articles on topical issues and legal updates from African jurisdictions to share knowledge and raise awareness of African jurisprudence

We recognise that different countries have different needs in terms of legal development.  Accordingly, our training can be tailored to meet your specific needs and delivered in your country. We are prepared to travel to you with a team of experts to deliver whatever training you need in your time and in your country.  To discuss this possibility, please contact us at conferences@aila.org.uk
