Our Mission

Our Mission

AILA aims to provide the study and development of international investment law and the resolution of investment disputes in Africa by all or any of the following means:

Establishing and developing the education and training of lawyers from Africa in these areas of the law, with particular reference to the resolution of investment disputes by arbitration, the principles of international investment treaties, and the negotiation, drafting and applicability of the same;

Providing lectures, events, conferences, training courses, practical experience schemes and similar programmes;

Promoting the rule of law in Africa; and

Providing opportunities to lawyers from Africa to further their understanding of the rule of law.

Ultimately, AILA's objective is to make accessible to African lawyers, a training forum of international standards supportive of a legal and regulatory environment which fosters economic growth and encourages investment in the continent.
