Thierry Mutombo Kalonji is the Director of Investment Promotion & Private Sector Development Division at the COMESA Secretariat. Previously, he was respectively State Finance Inspector, Investment Promotion Manager at the National Investment Promotion Agency and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also worked as Advisor of Ministers of Finance and Economy. He has worked as a consultant with the World Bank, OECD and the African Development Bank. He has also worked as a resource person with the International Institute for Sustainable Development and UNCTAD’s Expert in the area of international investment rules, investor’s protection and FDI statistics. He works closely with the ACP-EU Business Climate Facility and the International Finance Corporation to support COMESA countries in the area of improving their business environment. He holds a Masters Degree in Economic Law and a Masters in Economy and Development.
